Folk art creations by Artist Monali. *This is for reference. The workshop image is different.
Overview
The Nomadic forest dwelling tribe of Gond, one of the largest tribal community of central India are spread across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Andhra. Their intimate relation with forest and knowledge on behaviour of animals translate into an unique and rare tribal art form - Gond.Inspired from nature and mythological creatures from the tribal folklore, Gond art is very delicate and made with the utmost care and precision, represented through a pattern of fine dots, tiny dashes and intricate lines. For Gond tribes elephant is the symbol of fortune and they believe that seeing a good image brings lots of good luck to them. So it's auspicious practice to paint the wall near the door with image of elephant family in jungle, expressing intimate bond between the man, the forest and its animals.
