Overview

Madhubani paintings, the most internationally acclaimed Indian Folk Art that originated in the Mithila region of Bihar, is admired for its intricate motifs and symbolism with vibrant colours.

There are 3 distinct styles of Madhubani painting - Kachni, Bharni and Godhana. Kachni Madhubani is drawn delicately using hatching and stripping techniques and mostly done with monochrome or 2 colors - black and vermilion or bright red to create high contrast.

Let's celebrate the season of Mango with drawing a beautiful scene of bonding between mother and daughter in a Mango Orchard that brings back your childhood memory, from an Award winner artist - Gayathri devi.

We are pleased to announce an online workshop on Kachni style of Madhubani folk art, a course of 2 classes. in which on a guided session by eminent Madhubani artist, you will be painting a gorgeous scene of beautiful Madhubani lady carrying a basket of Mango under a Mango tree and sharing mango to her daughter depicting the eternal bond between them.

Time: 3:30 - 5:30 PM

During this session, you will learn -
• Madhubani - geometric figures unified with elements of nature.
• Intricate design of Madhubani motifs and elements.
• Kachni style of Madhubani coloring techniques.
• Complete a colorful kachni Madhubani painting - Bonding between Women and Child celebrating the season of Mango.

Materials Required

- A4 size ( 11.7 x 8.4 inch) White Thick art Paper (200 GSM or more).

- Black Finetip Pen(preferably fine liners) 01, 03, 08.

- Red Gel Pen or Finetip pen.

- Pencil, scale, erasers.

- Few extra A4 size paper for rough work/practice.


About The Artist:

Gayatri Verma, a Mithila Painting Artist is practising Madhubani art since last 10 years especially with Kachni and Bharni Style of Mithila Art. Her educational background is in Botany which gave her inspiration to learn this art form. She is trying to revive Mithila Painting by using botanical structures giving it a thematic and contemporary look. She has a small home run business to make Madhubani painted Saree, Bags, shawls, dress material etc and she also teaches Madhubani paintings to kids and adults.
