Positioned in the Baba Budan hills, Chikmagalur is a tranquil, serene town full of picturesque hills, valleys, streams and coffee plantations. Coffee was first produced in India through the Chikmagalur district where the first coffee crop was grown by Baba Budan in 1670 AD. Since then the city is known for its coffee, all over India. Join a poetic journey specially designed for Sr. Citizens in the lap of nature showcasing some of the spotless marvels of this magnificent coffee land.

Day 1

Proceed to Chikmagalur Accommodation: Coffee Plantation Homestay Meals: Dinner

During morning hours, you will be picked up from Bangalore and proceed to a beautiful drive to Chikmagalur. On the way, visit grandeur of the temples built by Hoysala dynasty during 11th to 14th century. At Halebeedu explore Hoysaleswara temple which was once known as Dorasamudra, named after the lake on shore of which the temple is situated. Visit Chennakesava Temple of Belur, a symphony of architecture and a finest specimen of Hoysala sculptures. The temple walls are engraved with intricate carvings depicting the episodes from Purana, Ramayana and Mahabharatha. There are 50 ornate pillars, each decorated with a unique sculpture of dancers, musicians and drummers.

As the road starts ascending the hills, a cool breeze with aroma of woods and coffee will welcome you to the land of Kadagu. The aroma will get more intense, as you reach closer to the homestay – a heritage house located in a coffee plantation.

After check inand some rest head for Mullayangiri, the highest peak in Karnataka. The peak derives its name from a small temple tomb located at its summit. AFter sunset, drive back to the homestay and enjoy sumptuous evening meal made of local delicacies.

Day 2

Chikmagalur Sightseeing Accommodation: Coffee Plantation Homestay Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Go for an early morning stroll to tranquil green coffee plantation. See how the red coffee cherries are turned into beans and processed to make your favorite cup of coffee.

After delicious breakfast, leave for sightseeing to Hebbe Falls. These falls are encircled by dense forests and coffee plantations. Falls spurts down from a height of 168 meters in two phases to form Dodda Hebbe (Big Falls) and Chikka Hebbe (Small Falls.) respectively.

Visit Kallathigiri Falls along the majestic gorges of the Baba Budhan ranges. It doubles up as a pilgrimage site as well with a Veerabhadra temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, constructed in a gap between rocks.In the afternoon, return back to the Coffee Plantation Homestay and enjoy your evening.

Day 3

Return to Bangalore Accommodation: N/A Meals: Breakfast

As the sweet morning glory and clear blue sky wish you good morning, prepare yourself for a lovely day ahead.

Post breakfast, check out from the home stay and proceed to Bangalore to reach by afternoon.

Hoyasaleswara Temple : A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built in Halebidu(previously known as Dorasamudra) during the rule of King Vishnuvardhana of the Hoysala Empire. The construction was started in 1120 AD and completed in 1150AD.


Chennakesava Temple : A temple built on the banks of the Yagachi river in Belure. "Chennakesava" (meaning 'handsome Kesava') is a form of Hindu God Vishnu.

Mullayanagiri : It is the highest peak in Karnataka and is widely regarded as one of the best trekking places in South India. The Sunset presents a spectacular view from the peak. The summit of Mullayanagiri also houses a police radio relay station. The peak gets its name from a small temple (gadduge/tomb) at the summit, which is dedicated to a Tapasvi "Mulappa swamy" who, is believed to have meditated at the caves only a couple of feet below the summit.

Falls :

Hebbe Falls : It is about 10 km away from the famous hill station Kemmangundi in Karnataka, India. This waterfalls are inside a coffee estate and can be reached either by walk or four-wheeler. Hebbe Falls gushes down from a height of 551 ft in two stages to form Dodda Hebbe (Big Falls) and Chikka Hebbe (Small Falls.)

Manakyadhara Falls : Manikyadhara Falls is near Kemmangundi of Chikmagalur district. It is on the Baba Budangiri Hills, which is a sacred place for Muslims and Hindus. It is one of the main attractions of Baba Budan Giri. It is approximately 40 km from Chikmagalur town.

Kallathigiri Falls : The waterfall is 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) away from Kemmangundi hill station. It offers an excellent view of the cascading water from the Chandra Drona Hill from 122 meters (400 ft) above in front of the Veerabhadreshwara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary : A part of Bhadra Tiger Reserve and an hour's drive from Chikmagalur. Deers, peacocks and many species of birds can be found.
