Arrive around noon hour between 11 AM to 3:00 PM at Guwahati Airport also known as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Proceed to Hotel in group. After check in to the hotel, spend your time leisurely in local shopping and sightseeing. Return back to Hotel for dinner and good night sleep.
In the morning, proceed towards Kamakhya Temple, one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas, situated on the Nilachal Hill in western part of Guwahati. It is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindu and especially for Tantric worshipers. Post lunch, we shall begin a lovely drive towards the exquisite tea gardens in Upper Assam, known across the globe for its high quality blends and brisk - malty color. Proceed to Tezpur - the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh and situated on the bank of Brahmaputra river. Spend leisure evening at Tezpur and take good rest before you begin adventurous drive to eastern Himalayas.
Post breakfast, proceed to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh border at Bhalukpong. After displaying the inner-line pass, drive along the roaring Dirang river. On the way, you will be astonished with lush green forested mountains, spectacular view of the snow-capped peaks and numerous waterfalls. On reaching Dirang at 5000 ft height, enjoy leisure time. Post dinner return to the room for a pleasant sleep.
As you wake up in the chilly morning of gorgeous Dirang valley, go for a morning stroll before the breakfast. Today, we will go for a the hidden jewels of Arunachal Pradesh - Sangti valley surrounded by Eastern Himalayan ranges dotted with pristine evergreen forests and meandering rivers. The valley is famous for its fruit orchards of kiwi fruit, apple, apricot, orange and is home to a very interesting culture and tradition.
Post lunch visit beautiful Dirang monastary on the hill top and admire the astonoshing view of rolling evergreen mountains around you. Proceed to Kala Chakra gompa, 500 years old monastery on the shores of Dirang River. Return to the hotel for your dinner and have a good sleep.
After breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and drive for 6 hours towards Tawang. Through a rough and mountainous terrain wrapped in a valley of mist and snow, we will come to a glacier which opens to a gate guarded by dragons with bright colored flag fluttering all around.
On the way we will also find lots of waterfalls and frozen lakes as it is believed that there are 108 lakes in the region. Admire the Sela Pass which is one of the world’s highest pass at 13714 ft height and runs through a small ridge and along the paradise lake which is covered with snow for most of the year.
As we drive upwards, we will experience a thick layer of mist over the roads which would feel as if we are in the cloud. Visit Jaswant Garh War Memorial to pay homage to the brave soldiers and get a spectacular view of the region. After reaching Tawang at 9000 ft, check in to the hotel and spend time at leisure.
Wake up early in the morning and get refreshed with the breathtaking view of majestic Himalayan mountain.
In the morning hours, we will proceed to Gaden Namgyal Lhaste or most commonly known as Tawang Monastery which is the largest monastery in India and second largest in world after the Lasha monastery in Tibet. Tawang Monastery was founded by the Mera Lama Lodre Gyasto in accordance with the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso. It belongs to the Gelugpa sect, It has a capacity of about 700 monks and presently is home to more than 450 lamas. When the 14th Dalai Lama fled from Tibet, and crossed into India on 1959, he spent some days resting at Tawang Monastery before reaching Tezpur in Assam. Since then he has visited Tawang many times. Witness the 28 foot statue of Lord Buddha inside this monastery. From the monastery admire the spectacular view of the Tawang town and snowcapped mountains. Visit the Ane gompa, which is a nunnery for female nuns.
Today, we shall wonder in a hidden paradise with splendid beauty and sparkling lakes. In the morning drive to famous Sangetser lake and Pankang Teng Tso Lake which is around 16 km from the town of Tawang and located at an altitude of 12,000 ft. As we drive through the last check post, witness pine trees covered with a thick layer of snow. Sangetser lake at an altitude of 12000 ft is famously known as Madhuri Lake, where the movie Koyla was shot. This Lake is one of the remotest high altitude lakes in India and is located tantalizingly close to the China border. Both the Buddhists of India as well as the Buddhists of Tibet consider the waters of this lake extremely pure and come here on pre-defined days of the year to offer their prayers.
Later we will further proceed to Bumla pass the Indo-China border at 16,500 ft above sea level. It is often covered with heavy snow throughout the year. It is one of the most off-beat passes in the world and is also referred to as the pass from where Dalai Lama entered India escaping from Tibet. Later in the evening return back to Tawang, spend some leisure time till dinner.
When morning rays bring new happiness to you, bid good bye to Tawang and gear up for a spectacular drive back to Dirang, situated at an altitude of 8,000 ft. On the way, we shall spend some time by the Narunang falls, commonly known as Jung falls by the locals. Many scenes of 'Koyla' movie were shot here. Narunang fall originates from the Sela pass and before meeting Tawang River it forms this beautiful waterfall. Upon reaching Dirang, we shall check in to hotel and spend leisure time till dinner.
Post breakfast, we shall visit Bomdila Monastery which is a replica of the Tsona Gontse monastery at Tsona in the southern Tibet. A little ahead of Tezpur, forest will start appearing with hills dotted in the horizon. Check in to the hotel and head over for a good sleep.
Drive back to Guwahati through lush tea plantation and upon reaching Guwahati, proceed to hotel and check in. Enjoy your sumptuous meal and sleep gently in tranquil land.
As you come out of your dream world and the fresh morning breeze promise you another wonderful day post breakfast, proceed towards the airport to fly back home carrying the good memories of this journey in our hearts.
