Detail Itinerary

  • Bowing to a Regal Past of Scindia

Gwalior, the capital city of the erstwhile Scindia dynasty, offers an aesthetic feast and visual delight to every traveller. Gwalior’s history can be traced back to 8 A.D, when Maharaja Suraj Sen stricken by a deadly disease, went to a hermit for help. He was cured by this hermit, Gwalipa. In gratitude, Suraj Sen founded a city which he named after the saint who had given him the gift of new life. Gwalior has been a chronicler of the rise and fall of many dynasties, from the Tomars in the 13th century to Mughals to Marathas and then finally it was under the Scindia’s.

You can board a morning flight from your city or travel by train to reach Gwalior by noon hour. Upon arrival at Gwalior, we shall proceed to hotel for check in.

In the evening, attend light and sound show at Gwalior Fort. We shall return back to the hotel for a delicious dinner and good night sleep.

Post breakfast, we shall start on an enthralling sightseeing in the city of Gwalior whose jewel in the crown is majestic Gwalior Fort, constructed about 1000 years ago. Spread over an area of 3 square km, the fort is surrounded by a wall of sandstone and encloses beautifully ornate six palaces, three temples, and numerous water tanks. We shall visit, Manmandir palace, Jahangir palace, Shahjahan palace, Karn mandir, Sasbahu Temple, Vikram mandir, Jauhar kund and Chhatri of Bhimsingh Rana - each one a testimony to the Rajput, Maratha and Islamic architecture excellence. Visit Tomb of Tansen, one of the greatest musicians of India and en eminent vocalist in the courts of Akbar in the medieval Mughal period.

Post lunch, we shall visit, Jai Villas Palace, built by Maharaja Jiyaji Rao Scindia and designed by Sir Michael Filose, a fine blend of the Tuscan and Corinthian architecture. A large part of the palace is still the abode of Scindia family but 35 rooms of the palace have been converted into Scindia Museum. Walk through the palace adorned with ornate mirrors, Versailles furniture, Belgian chandeliers, Venetian cut glass swing, handmade carpet, huge dining table and an antique Rolls Royce.

In the evening, we shall return back to the hotel for a delicious dinner and good night sleep.

  • The Gateway to Bundelkhand

Post breakfast, proceed to a Jhansi, the city of Rani Laxmi Bai. For years, the fearless struggle of Queen Laxmi Bai of Jhansi against the British rule has been dramatically narrated through stories, legends and poetry. We shall visit Jhansi Fort, which was constructed by Raja Vir Singh Deo, ruler of Orchha in Madhya Pradesh in 1613. The stunning Rani Mahal, which used to be the abode of Queen Laxmi Bai, is decorated with arched chambers and open courtyards. Elegant and colorfully carved out paintings are embellished over the wall. We shall also visit Maharaja Gangadhar Rao ki Chhatri.

We shall proceed to Orchha on an hour beautiful drive through a gradual ascend and green fields on each side. As you enter Orchha, crossing over a bridge on the Betwa river, we will see the most spectacular view of the city - Chaturbhuj Temples, their giant stairs leading to the turquoise stream gushing down the rocks. On reaching Orchha, we will check into the hotel. Enjoy your dinner and have good sleep.

  • A Medieval city frozen in time

Bordered by the beautiful Betwa River, Orchha shows the luxury and richness of the powerful Bundelas. Once the capital of the Bundela Rajput kings, Orchha was established by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh in 1501. Orchha is among the few places in India that combines natural beauty with exceptional architecture and artistic legacy of history. Spectacular forts, noble palaces and poetry inscribed temples will leave you spellbound as your travel through Orchha.

The center of Orchha is the Ram Raja temple whose presiding deity is Lord Rama whose idol was supposed to be installed in the magnificent Chaturbhuj temple. Legend says that the idols refused to move after being installed here and so a temple was built around them! Chaturbhuj temple is yet another impressive piece of architecture. Today, it houses the image of Radha-Krishna. The interiors of the temple exhibits the Mughals and the Bundela style paintings.

We shall visit, Laxminarayan Temple, that displays an incomparable form of architecture that is a beautiful mixture of a fort and a temple moulds. The temple bears the most beautiful paintings of the 17th and 19th century.

After witnessing the indescribable beauty of the temples of Orchha, we shall proceed to Khajuraho, well known all over the world for its architecture and exquisite sculptures. The temple complex dates back to the 10th century and once had 85 temples spread over 12 square miles. Today around 20 temples remain. The structures follow the quintessential Hindu geometric design.

  • The Temples of Life

The morning brings you to the steps of the tremendous temples that house the likes of Jain and Hindu architecture, along with thousands of statues carved, driven by devotion or curiosity.

Post breakfast, proceed to a day tour of the Khajuraho temple complex, surrounded with a vibrant and spiraling past. The most important temples in the grouping are located in the western zone. Within each frame of each inch of each temple you will find the markings of terrific history wrapped up in the detail of the reliefs that celebrate both the Jain and Hindu tradition. The rising, detailed chedis of the temples are only half of the reverence for which the ruins are known, while the Kama Sutra carvings tout a legacy of artistry, ancient intrigue, and account for 10 percent of the overall artwork along the monuments wrapping around the outer and inner temple walls.

  • Gorges and Waterfalls of Narmada

Post breakfast, we will drive down to Jabalpur - famous waterfall 'Dhuandhar' on Narmada river. The name came from Dhuan(smoke)-dhar(flow of water). We will go for a thrilling boat ride through 'Bandar Kodini', between the marble rocks on Narmada River, the mountains at both the sides at one point come so close that the monkeys can jump across them, hence the name "Bandar Kodini". Proceed to the hotel at Jabalpur.

  • Return with good memories

Wake up with all the memories in your heart and ready to say Goodbye to your friends from this religious, historical and nature wonder's expedition from the 'Heart of India'.

  • Neela Kate Mumbai I came to know about your company through FB. I wanted to see Marwad. I liked your itinerary - it was exactly the same where I wanted to go. So I checked its authenticity and booked a tour online. I was not disappointed. The tour was well planned. Each and every person was very well looked after as it was important for aged persons. Sangeeta I loved your way of treating each one with utmost love and care. A young entrepreneur like you need a huge courage, and passion towards your profession to handle the venture so meticulously and you are doing it successfully! • Anindya Banerjee Kolkata Thanks to 50+ Voyagers and its young, energetic, pleasant tour manager of our group tour to Bali and Yogajakarta. It was hassle free and enjoyable right from booking, travel planning and executions as per itinerary. Our local guides at Bali and Yogajakarta were knowledgeable, and hotels and restaurants met our expectations. Our trip was virtually stress-free. We did not felt overwhelmed or rushed, and we had just the right mix of activity and leisure time. Measure of tour success comes from feeling of going back to that place again with same company and group. I have overwhelmingly the same feelings. I wish to travel with 50plusvoyagers soon .
  • Ansuya Suresh Bangalore I would like to thank 50+ Voyagers team for organising a stress and tension free trip for us to Ladakh from August 29 to Sept 6, 2017. Right from Bangalore to and from Ladakh the trip was well managed and everything went by smoothly as per the schedule. The hotels and tents were good, neat and clean. The taxi drivers, the tour guide and our tour manager were very caring, cooperative and very supportive to all of us. It was my first trip travelling alone with them to Ladakh. In spite of my ill health and all health problems, I could make it due to the 50+ Voyagers. I once again thank you for this wonderful trip and I am looking forward to join another trip.
